Working with Robert De Niro was both a challenge and a dream come true for actress Sharon Stone , who recalled her experience filming Martin Scorsese's Casino to Business Insider . The actress, known for films like Basic Instinct , explained that before landing the role, she had auditioned multiple times for various projects featuring the New York actor, without much success. But the real challenge for the actress came during a key scene in the film.
The actress described that moment as "the highest point" of her career, although also one of the most demanding. During an intense one-on-one discussion, De Niro surprised her with a line that wasn't in the script and which, she confessed, provoked a mixture of anger and tension: "He said to me, ' You're a good actress, you know that? '"

"And I remember when he said that, how furious I was because it was my dream to be him," the actress explains. "I remember thinking, 'Oh, you've crossed a line, sir .'" The improvised, and somewhat malevolent, interaction on De Niro's part enriched the scene and elevated the chemistry between their characters.
Stone was full of praise for her co-star, whom she described as "the most observant actor": "He knew every button there was to push. He could get under your skin and into you." The role of Ginger earned Stone an Oscar nomination for Best Actress, as well as a Golden Globe . She is currently preparing her return to the big screen with Nobody 2 , an action sequel starring Bob Odenkirk, in which she will play the antagonist.
Stone admitted she was close to turning down the role to avoid falling into stereotypes, a concern she's had since playing the femme fatale in Basic Instinct . According to IndieWire , a sequel, or reboot , is also planned for Paul Verhoeven's 1992 film.
